The floor is red

THE FLOOR IS RED

by : Jalen Dwyer

Im trying, im trying with all my might.

Im crying and sighing all day and night.

My head implodes and turns to black.

Darker than a junkies relapse.

I want to sleep, i feel so tired.

But im forced to be up and wired.

My thoughts are empty, dry and vague.

My happiness cost an arm and a leg.

I conform and listen to what you say.

I spiral down in disarray.

Help me out, i’m tired and cold.

The same old feeling is getting old.

It’s been 4 hours since the sun.

Now i know my life's begun.

I’m up and at it, though my mind is off.

My body takes charge and runs the shop.

I’ve Stabbed my hands,

But im fine im a man.

The blood drips and hits floor.

The white turns red and drips some more.

I strap my wounds with numbered bands.

But continue to work for “im the man”.

My words are soft but set in stone.

I failed myself and cant atone.

The day is done the sun goes home.

The night has come the moons alone.

The drive is quiet, it makes me sad

But the flesh beside me is not so bad.

Alas im home where i belong.

But it’s on repeat, please change the song.

I left my past to welcome my future.

But it seems my life’s a blooper.

While I take the time to nap.

Distraction and noises fill the gap.

The days impatient and leaves me behind.

So far ahead it’s hard to find.

The day is done it’s time to sleep.

But all i do is weep and weep.

The sun comes out once again.

The moon retreats and joins his friends.

The cycles tedious, hard and bland.

Again and again i stab my hand.

The blood drips more and more.

There is no more white on the floor.

The limits reached, im sinking slow.

My heart and soul is cold as snow.

I build a fire for my passion.

Its dying slowly but that won’t happen.

I’m trying and trying with all my might

And now my future seems so bright.

The flow in your words was drifting me down a river
Before I knew it the water got rough struggling to hold on
The tears building from my soul the pain I'm still learning to let go
Thank you for expressing your raw inner truth
May you trust and believe in your last words
The future is bright when sharing from our hearts.
