High School

skyebellasario

Can you believe it's been 5 years

Since we walked in those daunting gates?

The year 11's looming above us,

How strange to think we are them now.

As we strolled in for the very last time,

A tear pricked my eye.

Gazing around,

I saw the memories we made

In places right in front of me.

I took for granted how lucky I was,

To spend everyday with the people

I love the very most.

The buildings bursting with

people  I under appreciated

For all this time

Fade away right before my eyes.

In my heart,

There will always be a reserved place

For the days that shaped me.

For the times we didn't care

Which judgmental person was looking down

On us, as we rolled in the grass

And danced under the sun rays.

The days we thought we were

The only people that the sun shone

So brightly for.

Standing side by side,

For the very last time.

Clinging onto the last seconds,

As they slip out of grasp.

We face tomorrow,

Holding hands.

Not quite ready for this planet

To scatter us across.

Apart.

How can we just simply wave goodbye

To the last 5 years?

Of being a child, in high school.
