Cold to the World

"Carter Wills"

Some in this life may come off cold,
or it may seem they just don't care for any bit.
As if nothing matters upon this world,
and as though naught is worth it.

But I come here to remind you, dear audience,
this very well may not be the case.
Many of those bunch still have clear conscience,
and that can't ever be fully erased.

They do care, or did so at a time.
Cared for all in this life,
even without reason or rhyme,
until came the twist of the knife.

They lost that virtue of love,
after so many took and never gave.
They lost all that they were made of,
and took this loss to their grave.

So do take to mind that fact,
the next time one seems so rude,
that they may have simply lost that tact,
and no longer have their positive attitude.

They may have cared before,
and seen that care taken away.
I hope to see none of such any more,
in this moment and in every after day.

Well written. I often find myself being less tactful than I probably should be. I'm a very direct person and I've found that some people take it as rudeness. I still care and have empathy but in situations where I feel the person brought their hardship on themselves through obvious bad decisions, I have a hard time being very sympathetic. Great post!
