There are Days

LiterateLesbian

There are days that are dark

and days that are light.

There are the days i am lonely

and days where i am in company.

There are days where i do not see

and days where i notice everything.

There are days where i contemplate life

and days where i am thankful for being here.

There are days where i am defeated

and days where i am the fighter.

There are days filled with terror

and days where i face my fears.

There are days where i am not in control

and days where i control everything.

There are days where i don't know my own thoughts

and days where they're all i can hear.

There are days where i walk alone

and days where someone has got my hand.

There are days where i sit and think

and days where i stand and shout.

There are days where i want to give up

and days where i know to hold on.

There are days where i don't learn

and days where i know everything.

There are days where i need help

and days where i do the helping.

There are days where i need a shoulder

and days where i am the shoulder.

Each day brings something new whether good or bad

and each day i know i will be thankful i lived it.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have written this poem to help reflect my feelings. I have struggled with self harm since i was 8 years old. It has occupied 11 years of my life already and i don't want it to take up any more. Time is a precious thing and i want people to see that no matter how hard it gets it gets easier. We are all living evidence that no matter what life throws at us we are able to bat it away. Stay strong everyone, there is a silver lining for all of us.
