A Walk Beneath The Heavens

A Walk Beneath The Heavens

There was a time not long ago

When the moon was high

And a comet put on a show

Streaking across the sky

It was a special time for sure

With Venus shining too

And the dippers also there

And cancer that I knew

Walking there that summer night

I felt that I belonged

There below the guiding lights

As I went along

My navigation was the best

From my days as scout

I had my trusty compass too

As I went about

I was there well prepared

For all that could go wrong

And the whip-poor-will sang ‘round there

As I went along

When I turned to go back

I let myself be tired

And as the night became the dawn

The heavens there expired
