It Will be You

JWKP98

I was optimistic and hopeful as I approached the mountain top,

For I was sure there that the vicious climb would stop.

But I can look at the land standing to my front and all I can see

Are yet more mountains standing before me.

Is this what it looks like when You come down and save the day?

Is this the answer I get when in tears I hit my knees and pray?

Well, if it is so much, Father,

Even still, I will hold onto You and trust that I will emerge stronger.

But today, Father, I needed you more than words can say

I needed You to turn this night into day

The pain, the sorrow, the misery, the shame,

You could take it all away in The Father’s Name

The storm could be calmed before Your hand like on the Galilee

And without effort, from wandering in the desert You could free me

But I know You will never give me more than what I can handle, Father.

So even so, I will go through and trust that I will emerge stronger.

I know You see me in this storm and could lead me back to dry land

But even if you don’t, Father God, I’ll still be holding Your hand

I won’t lean on anything, I won’t lean on anyone but You,

Because in a land of mystery, You’re the only thing that is true

But God, I thought that You’d step down and stop all of this rain,

But even if You never do, I still want to be trusting in Your name

If a little faith is all that I have and even if I never see You save the day,

The cross will always be enough for me to seek You as the way

So, Father God, if there’s only one thing I hold on to,

Oh, Father God, I want it to be You.
