Firefly Evening
They filled the air and flew about
With their little pen lights out
Blip blip in the sky
So bright for their little size
A guiding light they signaled there
In morse code there everywhere
With the warm summer eve
Alive with their electricity
When the whip-poor-will gave his call
They stayed a bit in grasses tall
Until their little safety lights
Signaled there that all was right
One in the hand was deceiving
With their lights no longer blinking
Until again they were free
To fly around so casually
They were nature to be seen
And talked about excitedly
Those lazy summers when we were kids
With simple times the lives we lived
