Moon-Eyed

Baylee

I am

one who self destructs

A moth, fluttering, moon-eyed

towards the shining light in the darkness

only to realize

this burning luminosity

was anything but

a light at the end of the tunnel -

When the brilliance I trusted

executes me in a fiery flash

My darling, you wish

to save me from myself

but you cannot change that which is

buried within my bones

even if this nature is

hollowing me out as I sleep

Every part of me wishes

to be saved from myself

but then again

Don't all roads

lead to death

anyway?
