Beating Heart

Masking

The stilled beat of a vibrating heart,
Hopes draining ever since the start.
Drenched in sweat when walking past,
Hoping it wasn't the last.
Her smile erased all his fear,
And laid in his eye a precious tear.
Her voice brought many singing birds,
The tune she led in unison with the gathered herd.
She laid to me many smiles,
But of course, I looked on from miles.
As she walked by me again, and I felt the beat of my empty heart again, and started the cycle once again.
