Survivors Are Few

 

There are few survivors

Though many victims snared

Where a spider engineer

Builds a net to keep bugs there

 

He works on the web each day

Devoting his energy

There are daily repairs

But the web is nice and neat 

 

The web sways with the wind

And the spider makes it bounce

Survivors there are few

As most do not get out

 

Few escape the web

Though many butterflies know

Some get all caught up

And the spider eats them slow

 

Survivors are very few

Though a grasshopper can break free

His damage to the web

A victory to me
