As you get older you aren’t guaranteed to get more mature
And you don’t always make good choices
Like buy stock or invest
Try harder in school and do more than the minimum
We assume that our kids don’t need help once they hit high school
We assume that they are mature enough to do things alone
But honestly we need that help
That reassurance that if we fall we’ll get help back up
We need some to give us some guidelines to be successful
Because without that push we might just put aside our future
Procrastination isn’t a sign of immaturity
It isn’t a sign of weakness
It is a decision making mentality
Even though we might not get things done first
It doesn’t mean we won’t get them done
Or do them poorly
It just means we think of the now
And worry about the later, later
You can be a procrastinator
And a successful mature person
You just need to know when to think about now and your future.

- Comment from author about the poem: I am a procrastinator and a student in high school, I sometimes get the feeling that I am on my self without help from parents to decide what to do with my future. I talk about how kids need the assistance from their parents to be successful, and that just because you are a procrastinator it doesn't mean you have no goals for your future and don't care about your education.
