A Chained Heart
Nobody knows the reason behind my chained heart
The reason that i kept hidden
Away from the outside world
I can't tell anybody what it is
It's too painful to say out loud
I can't even write it down
If people knew they would judge me
Say that it was my own fault
And that I shouldn't act so stupid
But if you knew how it really went
You would understand why I kept it a secret
Even from you
So, is your heart free
Or is it chained
Just like mine

- Comment from author about the poem: This poem was inspired by a friend of mine. Something happend to her that was really hard for her. She struggled with it, but her parents told her she was just exaggerating. I hope this will give her some support.

My answer your question is 'yes' and like your friend i cannot talk of it.
I understand your piece completely and why you wrote it.
To let go for some of us takes a great deal of courage. Such harm can be done in ones formative years.
