If I wake up after a nights rest,
If upon waking, realize I am alive,
If I, from yesterdays strife, survive.
If I, of sound mind and body, pass the test.
If by smiling I've given others what I'd expect,
If I, through respect of others, each grow,
If found in others, my inner glow.
If true to myself, I've given others respect.
If I treat others as I want to be treated,
If when cold-shouldered, I give a warm embrace,
If I look beyond religion, color, and race.
If I give each their due, I'll never be berated.
When giving my creator His proper due,
I'll realize, with upraised eyes, true worth,
Living each day anew from my rebirth.
Then I'll realize, to my savior, I've been true.
