Broken Dam

Brook

Heavy eyelids want to fall. Tired mind with its haul.   A tugging heart and a burning throat. I feel so shakey. Almost broke.   Hold it back. Keep moving on. Fix it later. Hide that yawn.   Stress like water behind a dam. Hairline cracks about to go "BAM!"   Water builds up, and the dam still holds. The villagers forgot that water was  cold   Until the cracks bursted. And the thing went "BAM!" Because no one ever eased water off the dam
