To Catch A Worm

w c

To Catch A Worm

A hunger in a robin’s breast

Is to catch a worm

And from searching he seldom rests

With others that also yearn

They canvass most every lawn

For the juicy earthworms there

And stop and catch peeping ones

In the ground everywhere

After the lawns have been searched

The birds fly to budding trees

Where they sit undisturbed

with the growing leaves

They often sing a happy song

Each morning and through the night

Its refrain unending soon

And a sweet delight

Each day they do not hesitate

To stretch an earthworm there

With the worms tasting great

And beyond compare

Run and stop run and stop

The birds hunt around

With the worms in their beaks

Some of those they’ve found

A fine tribute to our Robin friends wc........ how would we know when spring arrives if they didn't show up!

      • w c

Yes, Lorna. Spring would not be the same without our Robins. They are so beautiful and such important players in mother nature's play production.
