A Fire Must Be Born

poetboy5454

Endless rain continues crashing down upon the floor

Staring in the layered depths, a distorted reflection glaring back before it fades

Washing off from the surface, yet reaching our core

Floating away on the sinking sea, watching as a new night cascades

A beacon in the darkness arrives on the stage

Promising peace and prosperity, a chance to scare away the phantoms of the past

Give in to these writers of fate as they turn the page

Hand away your destinies, float away on bubbling apathy, and remain steadfast

From that light, shadows began to form

Vows broken, with unrestrained power comes unchained greed and nothing more

With heads turning, witnessing the birth of a storm

A bright dream warps into a nightmare, left to feed on a wilting hope they tore

Haunted by the ghost of a lingering purpose

Drowning in this rising wave of apathy, as the world begins to fall apart

As a society, chose ignorance over bliss

Now the only solution lies within dormant hearts

A fire must be born

From the ashes of this fallen dream

A fire must be born

In order for the future to gleam

A fire must be born

To rise and burn away the shadows

A fire must be born

To protect hope's dying rose

A fire must be born

Within the frozen souls

A fire must be born

Before our fate is out of our control
