The Common Touch

Aamina

As we flourish among them,

But lack their blessing,

Our wealth nurtures us women and men,

But always leaves something missing.

Under the canopy of an unestablished home,

That floats upon money naively,

Our decorated surroundings arouse wows,

But lacks the love that is yearned for deeply.

We argue that it is the diversity of our culture,

The paint that colours our community,

But this unorderly order that we veil as structure,

Has brought them to vulnerability.

Is it wealth that everybody needs,

To complete an incomplete mind?

Or is it their unique sense that defies greed,

That we for our whole lives find?

'Yes we live among them', 'oh yes we help!',

It assists in our fear of ending with little spiritual much,

But as reality stands and their secret remains kept,

The potion that keeps them smiling is simply the common touch.
