Chasing Lights

Leaking Light

Darkness follows my every step
I try to outrun it but it's never far behind
A collection of shadows looming over me
The world grew darker and now I'm blind

Blind to the things that are right in front of me
The things that once held everything in place
I know they're still there but it hardly matters
I must endure the voice with no face

Once in a while, a light appears
I feel it's warmth, enjoy its glow
I start to feel safe but it fizzles out
Just like each one, then on I go

I keep walking, hoping I'll find more
The longer it takes the less I can do
I slowly end up lying on the ground
Knowing any I find will die out too

What's the point if they keep disappearing?
Why should I try, why can't this end?
I notice another light in the distance
And I crawl towards it, hopeful again
