What was mine now given to another

PaParock68

Where once stubbornness, now compliance,

What was mine, now belongs to another,

Gone the days of assured-self reliance.

What was mine, now belongs to another.

One kind word or simple praise,

What was mine, now belongs to another,

Spoken by another, hope is raised.

What was mine, now belongs to another.

With a smile, a nod, confidence scores,

What was mine, now belongs to another,

Gently, tenderly, happy memory, stored.

What was mine, now belongs to another.

Joyfully, gratefully, never giving pause,

What was mine, cheerfully given to another,

Once there was doubt, now there is a cause.

What I thought mine, now assured through another.

Eyes ever on the prize, I step into a great future,

All of mine, gladly given to another,

Purpose takes over, bright the future.

With many others, now a brother.

With my Lords hand holding mine,

I step toward a much brighter future.
