The Fresh Start

blueowl

She lay on the floor and said she “was done”

For she felt that she had lost ‘the one’

She cried, she yelled, she felt such pain

And complained she’d never find love again

But then she went home and got in bed

And there she lay a weary head

She remembered all the times before

When she felt that she would love no more

In that moment then she knew

That once again she would pull through

She’d find a way to heal her heart

For this was not her first fresh start

In the past she’d found another

One to love who helped her cover

All the mess that had gone before

And hurt that left her on the floor

She knew then that she’d be alright

And once again she’d find the fight

To find the right one for her heart

And it began with a fresh start.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Went througha heartbreak where it felt like I’d be alone forever in the moments afterwards, but I remembered the strength I’d had in the past and how everything, and I, was once again alright. This is my poem about that realisation.
