Nyctophilia

I can only be who I really am when the lights go out

No need for a hood or mask to hide behind

No fake smile required in the pitch

From sunlight to moonlight, I switch

There is a deafening silence in my world

There is no need of vision in my world

To touch, feel & think

Into the folds of nyctophilia I wrap & sink

Comfort & tranquillity I find in the shadows clutch

My thoughts become clear, images I can touch

Focus becomes clear as a crystal stalagmite

This colourless existence brings clarity to my sight

Bring me darkness

I need to relax

Bring the night

Grey & black

Bring me the night

I want to be safe

Bring me darkness

It’s what I crave

I can be who I truly am only when the lights go out

There I can remove my painted happy face

No need to pretend in the pitch

From daylight to no light, I switch

There is a deafening silence in my world

There is no need of vision in my world

To feel, touch & think

Into the folds of nyctophilia I wrap & sink

Relief & well-being I find in the shadows clutch

My thoughts become clear, dreams I can touch

Focus becomes clear as a crystal stalactite

This abyss I call home is perfectly devoid of light

I THINK WE ALL CAN ONLY BE OUR TRUE SELVES WHEN WE ARE ALONE IN THE DARK.I KNOW THAT I CANNOT BE ME MYSELF AROUND ANYBODY,THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND ME.BUT EVERYBODY ON MPS SEEMS TO GRASP THE REAL ME.

    Frogs...

the abyss for me is home; always felt that way even though I can fully function during the day; I just like the dark.

Most of my poetry is written at night; dark room with only the screen illuminating me & the keyboard.

    Appreciate the read & comment.

I haven't grasped the real you yet. I don't think virtual interreaction can truly reveal the true self; we can all hide behind our screens & be whoever we want to be.

Only you know the true you.

    Thanks again,

What a wonderful write unsub, night may well be your love and all your negative thoughts of the day are lost in the night, a very positive way to be.

It is a pity that at the moment it is still light at ten in the evening and then again about half three in the morning, but after tomorrow the nights will start getting longer.

I do not say this very often but this is going into my favourites.

I get this in a way I wish I didn't...you go there so beautifully.

        lcm,

the darkness is when I come alive.

        Thanks for stopping by,
