Abora

6/20/18 10:21 PM

i cough up black muck now

it’s a swamp inside my chest

trapping horses in stride

and the protected wetlands

never have birds year round

i cough up dead songs now

tatters and shreds in my ears

burning mud and gaseous time

clouds erupt from my chest

i cough up red fish now

and their eyes are pecked out

sandy trails from its throes

and my throat is still scratchy

i cough up errant hearts now

and each day is another fit
