Dragoness

H.R.Powell

There once was a dragoness

Enormous and flaming red

She laid one egg

Silky warm yellow

She nestled in her ghastly cavern

And waited,

White cracks in the shell

A small dragon

Curled around it’s mother’s talons

She slides him one coin from her wealth

Smiles fangs sharp as swords

He latches with greed

Onto his new clutch
