The year was 1980
when a mass exodus
carried those mostly from Cuba,
and some were from Haiti.
Now this is what we only know.
This is what we want to hear.
Because we knew,
it would make an exciting story,
in about twenty years.
Within six and a half months,
over one-hundred thousand cubans,
immigrated to America.
Escaping the Castro regime,
most of them landed,
in Miami, Florida,
from the Mariel harbor.
We remember how they,
were put in detention centers,
by president Jimmy Carter.
That is all many of us want to know,
so it is easier to feel sorry for the poor.
Still, many people do not know,
that there was so much more.
We all see the pictures.
We all hear what they say.
We all want a certain result,
but become upset,
when it is not done our way.
Most of the time,
we do not know,
the entire truth,
but the world feels a need,
to release their hatred,
and does not know,
who else to choose.
So what do they do?
