Judge Me Not

Anasyil

I begged and plea
for you to see
the color of my blood
not the color of my skin.

Judge me not by my timid personality
but by the strength and courage I hold.
Judge me not by the way I speak
but by the level of intelligence inside me.

I begged and plea
for you to hear
the sound of my beating heart
not the sound of my surroundings.

Please, judge me not by the way I dress
but by the generosity and kindness I bring.
Judge me not because I'm "one of a kind"
but because I'm special in my own way.

I begged and plea
for you to understand
the gift that I hold
not what I do not have.

Why do you mock me?
Why must you abuse me?
Do I have to cut off my breath
and stop the beating of my heart
to satisfy you and the darkness within?

  • Comment from author about the poem: Throughout my life, I been judged and mocked by the way I look, the culture I was raised in, my nationality, my vernacular, and much more. I was bullied a lot as a child for struggling to speak English. This is not just me. This happens to everyone, and I wish the world could open it's heart and realize we are more than how we look. Unfortunately, this is something that will always seem like an idealistic dream...

    Your poem was beautiful
    You bared your soul
Some Humans can be insensitive creatures only caring for the material and superficial
    Thier minds are weak
Never let them get the better of you

Thank you. I fought through many obstacles my entire life, but I know I'm not the only one. I believe this is something everyone must go through; some more than others.

This is a great reaction of the unfair conclusions to a persons appearance.
          Writing is honest and sincere.
