When The Dust Settles

Noah Malice

Preface:

If you look and if you listen

You will find the answers are given

To questions you may not have known to ask

Life lessons in simple things and menial tasks

And if you dare to be so sure

You will find there's no need to obscure

The simple things with context and details

But you may not learn anything when you fail

Do you see the roots

When you look at the leaves

Can you smell the fruit

When you taste the tea

Do you see the sun

Or just feel its rays

You said you should run

But don't know which way

Do you see the fear

Gather in her eyes

When you're cavalier

You make her cry

When you do that

You're the bad guy

When you do that

Don't wonder why

You don't see the sun

When you look at the moon

You can't have fun

When you're leaving soon

You don't see the black

Behind the blue

You can't turn back

Just tell the truth

And you can the moon

Up in outer space

And the flowers bloom

Behind the garden gates

But if I asked you

From where they came

Do you have a clue

What you would say

You see the stars

When they're long gone

And you broke her heart

It feels so wrong

Like snow in spring

Or sleeping at dawn

Like you've snapped a string

Playing a sad song

They don't see me

And they don't see you

Or what you'd be

If your dreams came true

Or what you see

Or what you do

But you can't turn back

Just tell the truth
