What do you see when you see me
Hands up don’t shoot I’m screaming
But seemingly the words I sing chanting them out are not enough
Hands up don’t shoot
You can’t hear me because you won’t listen
Apparently the sin I carry, matted hair and skin of bronze
must be faced by the bullet of your gun when you pull that trigger
But it’s okay
Miss me today and my brother will finish the job
Because the same color skin and the blood coursing through my veins isn’t a sign of unity just impurities that must be wiped away
I am not my brothers keeper and he is not mine
Hands up don’t shoot
Its biblical I’m the Abel to his Cain
Brother to brother
Instead of facing the man together we are killing each other
BROTHER DON’t SHOOT
what do you see when you see me
Am I just another black man left breathing
