Giving Them The Boot

ForeverJesus7

After owned by France,
and then by Spain,
France took it back,
then surrendered it,
to the United States.
It was the Louisiana purchase,
that once stretched to Canada,
but was then broken down,
to modern day Louisiana.
One of the greatest moments,
in America's growth,
was established on July fourth,
and the name,
will always be known.
It controlled the Mississippi river,
with the delta as it's root.
What was once a giant,
is still nicknamed, 'the boot'.

IT IS FUNNY THAT YOU SHOULD MENTION THE FOURTH AND HISTORY.
BACK IN THE 1800'S UR FORMER PRESIDENTS JOHN ADAMS,WHO IS AN ANCESTER OF MINE,AND THOMAS JEFFERSON DIED ON THE FOURTH OF JULY JUST A COUPLE OF HOURS APART.THEY WERE BEST FRIENDS SINCE THEY SIGNED THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE,THROUGH THEIR PRESIDENCY AND ALL.WHEN,I THINK JOHN ADAMS,HAD HERD ABOUT THOMAS JEFFERSON DYING,HE WAS SO HEARTBROKEN THAT HE DIED A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER. JUST A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT INDEPENDENCE DAY.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The Louisiana purchase was established as a part of America on July 4th in 1803 (215 years ago). I figured this piece of American history is appropriate seeing as how one - it is almost our Independence day, two - I enjoy history, and three - I used to live in Louisiana. Persistence is key
