OLAS

Edthepoet

She tore me
Into a thousand tiny pieces
Of paper from a magazine
The one she read last week
On how to bring the man of your dreams to his knees

She melted me
Into a running river of gold
From the jewellery she once sold
To catch a train then a boat
Over land and sea to find my heart she stole

She cut me
Into a million shapes and sizes
To see which bits fit nicest
Into her romanti-size-ist
Kaleidoscope delusions of ever after bliss

There's enough people
Talking in code,
Not getting what they're owed
For me and you to
let this moment go
Without taking hold,
We have to jump in
and begin getting old

She knows I've no way over or around this conversation
It's on a one way road
Taking both of us home
She knows I'm bought and sold.
