The Moving Castle

He only steals the souls of beauty

I’m excluded for sure

But then why am I in his arms now ?

He makes me feel alive away from my hat shop

Is this love?

But jealousy takes over and

Ages me and bends my back forward

And makes my knees weak

Any chance of beauty I had before is gone now

But why am I in his castle now ?

I am old but he values me

And can see right through my curse

His skin holds on tight to his bones

For he is trying to lose himself

His heart is gone, eaten by a demon

And fueled with fire and ash

The evil he battles within

Triumph over the external that charge his way full speed

I need the key

To free him of this prison he has created

I dig deep into my bag of tricks

And pull out my confidence with a hint of courage

And a tad of love for that is all the magic I possess

His fight will be my fight and I will not let him hurt

Alone

Because I know the solitude of it

And how it rips up your insides

Like a hoe dragging through cold dirt

Let me in

Please

Just let me in

  1.      Howl

She was so different then the rest I’ve wooed

She did not try to look elegant, she was simple

Simply beautiful, like the organ within her chest

One I do not possess the same as you

Made a deal with a demon

And he ate it whole

For the heart causes                                                                                                                                                                                      you so much pain

Pain I do not need

But she shows up again in a form not her own

She’s been cursed by a

Past lover and her safety is endangered

I will protect the unpickable flower that sprouted

Through the cracks my heart left

But will I make it

The real me, the darkness is sweet with its words

And has invited me to play but I do not want to

But I always end up staying for a bite

I’m turned into a black bird of pure darkness

The sludge that seeps out my pores sticks

Like how she has stuck to me

She lights up my path and is much stronger

Than all my magic combined

She will not leave me to drown in the sea of riveting eyes

She pulls me out as quick as sound

I love her and I can’t admit it to my heart

For it is not their

I thought I escaped this pain long ago

Set me free

Please

Just set me free

  • Comment from author about the poem: Howl’s Moving Castle Quick Background: A hat maker named Sophia meets a wizard named Howl who is known all over has a demon who steals the soul of beautiful girls, they meet formally after Sophia is cursed by a jealous witch of the waste and starts to age prematurely. Although Howl is oh-so powerful he still deals with inner conflicts that affect him deeply and has a thing with always being “beautiful”, Sophia also struggles with wanting to be beautiful and this is how the two get over it together. In the end Sophia releases Howls heart literally and they are able to live happily. This story tackles the strength one normal women has over a wizard with powerful magic, and how she is able to free him of his prison and show herself how much she’s worth.
