Betrayal's Dance

Anasyil

One two three, one two three

A woman, a man

dances through the night

her dress sway,

breeze brushing through her hair.

his hand on her hips

stares into her eyes.

One two three, one two three

Her head against his neck

His body closes in.

Her arms around his neck

His lips on her forehead

Three two one, three two one

She screams and falls,

a cut on her arm.

His hands around her neck

A knife between his teeth.

Three two one, three two one

Her face is blue

Slash!

Her hair soaked,

His hands tainted

Three…

The knife falls

Two…

Her neck is broken

One…

He walks away;

Away from her…

  • Comment from author about the poem: A tragic poem for those who had ever been betrayed or cheated on. I believe everyone has faced some type of betrayal. It could be friends, family, lover, or anyone really. For me, when I was betrayed and cheated in the past, I felt a stabbing pain in my heart, and I felt as if I could no longer breathe. Betrayal is very painful, and this poem depicts how I am feeling during the process. I have grown so attached to someone; shared so many memories and giving apart of myself just for them to abandon me and hurt me in the end.
