I like to float out in space

Sure, it’s cold and bare,

but it’s something I can embrace!

trust me, I can afford the despair

 

no, no, I prefer it to Earth

I promise it’s not that sad,

people don’t give it what it’s worth!

it’s the closest to home I’ve ever had.

 

I don’t want to see my parents or my friend

I like the cold, dark silence

I want to stay in space, where I can continually suspend

I don’t need any guidance

 

I can’t understand why after all these years,

they just now want to pull me down?

they shipped me up here, despite all my fears

and now that I’m comfortable, they want me on the ground?

 

I want to stay among the stars

I want to feel their cold glow, still

if i go down, I’ll be confined to their steel bars

and I’ll be stuck, chained down beyond my will

 

but I’ll always float

I wasn’t meant for the ground

and I’ll leave, without a note

and I’ll be in space again, without a sound

 

I don’t care what they say

I’m fine! I’m healthy! I love it here!

this is my only get away

this is my home, year after year.

 

and I’m not alone

I have my own gravity,

so you can leave me on my own

and leave me to my own reality 

 

I’ll be okay, trust me

I’ll make my journey back to space

and I promise, I guarantee,

I’ll be best in this place

 

so farewell, goodbye,

this astronaut isn’t coming back down

I belong here, in the sky,

because I am the only company I want to be around.

      some people are very comfortable in their own company and actually prefer it , lol. i like the idea of you being in space and not wanting to be taken away again , preferring space to earth .. the sky to the ground..

        yep! I totally prefer to be in my own area and thought it was a good thing to write down but I liked the metaphor lol
