An Experienced Tightrope Walker

Hesther

The rope is strung high,

Coiled and tight like a jack in the box

Ready to strike.

The ground is far away below;

A distant fantasy that lures and entices

The inexperienced tightrope walker.

An inexperienced tightrope walker is intoxicated

By the shudders and shivers of the rope,

Enticed by the gentle dusting of sawdust on the ground.

But an experienced tightrope walker is not fooled.

They know, to keep balance in life,

You must keep moving.

There is no time for silent contemplation so high up.
