Lisa Wilson

I am curled up on the ground behind a table. I hear screams and voices and bangs and crashes and I see nothing but her face. The tears roll down her cheek and just as one dries another follows its trail. She holds out her shaking hand and I pull her close. We are now trembling as one. The noise fades out as my mind fades to home. Where birds fly and fish swim: free. The sky is blue and the grass is green and the only blood is that shed of a brothers pact. The noise fades back in and the world returns to its devastating reality. Her heart beats all too fast until it just can’t. Her trembling stops and her tears dry off. She is going home.

Very good and sad but rejoice, she's headed home.
