A Phoenix, Raven, and Robin
roam around the land
sharing laughs and having fun
while exchanging past bitterness
and comfort one another.
The Raven and Robin falter.
The Robin cried to the Phoenix.
The Phoenix came to the Raven
to resolve a broken tide.
For the sake of both,
the Phoenix broke the Robin’s promise
and told the Raven everything
to save the broken tide.
The Robin and the Raven
soon became one.
The Raven gave the Phoenix
his heart in the form of glass
to which the Phoenix burned it
and melted the shape away.
In spite, in anger,
two strong personalities collide.
The Phoenix and the Raven falter
leading to war.
The Robin felt betray
because of the Phoenix
told the Raven her secrets.
Yet the Phoenix did this
to bring the Raven back to the Robin
and watch them live happily.
Rather than try to resolve a broken tide,
the Robin abandon the Phoenix.
The Raven stab the Phoenix’s front
while the Robin stabs the Phoenix’s back.
In anger, in spite, the Phoenix’s flames ignite,
burning away the bridges until in ashes.
The Phoenix realized what was done
and wept all day with the loss of two.
But the Phoenix must go;
fly away and claim the skies;
fighting the darkness in her everlasting light.
Because the cried of other birds
need her guiding light.
She must continue to fulfill her duties
to save the lives of others
as a promised bestowed upon her.
The others witness her return;
ecstatic, they greeted her.
The Phoenix realized she must continue
to save the lives of others.
The Phoenix must continue
to fulfill her purpose.
Though the Phoenix mourns
for the loss of two
she realized she had just saved
twenty-five more.

- Comment from author about the poem: My anger and pride have caused me to lose two people. That, I confess. But both had betrayed me. This is true as well. In life, we make many mistakes. We make choices that may or may not have terrible consequences. Once mistakes are made, it is important to accept them and move on. The past cannot be changed no matter how deeply you want it to. No matter what happens, I always fulfill my duties as a healthcare worker and as a leader. I have a group in which is very family-like. As I reveal my weaknesses for the first time in a long time, everyone comforts me, reminding me of the thing I have done to save their lives. That's when it hit me: I did not lose everything. I still have my job, my group, my education and so forth. The reason I felt as if I lost everything was that I gave my heart to those two people. And yet, they gave their heart to me. If I can go back and change things, I would. Sadly, the damaged is done, and I am not the one to give traitors a second chance. Curse this weak heart of mine, for I still miss them dearly. But bless it as well because twenty-five people came to me and reminded me of the things I've done to save them. The greatest blessing to have ever received is a family.
