Candlewitch

the arrogant prince

the arrogant prince

on his many travels
he heard of a maidens trial,
of her deep dark sorrow
and inability to smile.

in questing he had sought her
no beauty matched her own,
since she was a child
and now so fully grown.

sitting on her garden swing
the sunset lit her flaxen hair,
as he cast a hopeful eye
on this anguished lady fair.

her questioning eyes beheld him,
in his hand a flower
he wondered at his timing
upon the errant hour.

in silence she sat,
speaking not a word
for her sorrow was such
that she knew she'd not be cured.

in his pride and arrogance
on her lips he placed a kiss.
but being not her prince,
turned frog by this comely miss!

I like this, and I'm glad I'm not that Prince. I have other ways of treating a fair lady well. lovely poem though. good work.

            My dear Cat,

            An excellent write which I
            enjoyed reading!

That prince was so full of
            himself and forgot that...
            Arrogance is ignorance and
            the death of success!

            Hugs πŸ€—
