Water, Whiskey and Wine

Edthepoet

We swing the gavel
With a quick flick blade
If the blood is bleeding
Then the game's been played

We shoot the bullet
With a sharpened tongue
The voice is calling
But the lungs are numb

We catch the cradle
With hard earned advice
Don't go there my girl
He's not worth the fight

We tell our tales
With menacing eyes
Don't stare for too long
She don't like the spot light

We drink our water
Once it's turned to ice
Sinking in whiskey
Mixing with red wine

Sweet tooth sugar
Tattoo my heart
Colour me in
Another Shade of dark.

Sweet honey bee
Spare me a light
Colour me in
Another Shade of bright

I think your bright enough already. I see the rainbow in you and throughout your poetry. I adore your work.

Those last two verses deserve their own place in MPS.

      • Edthepoet

Hey dusk, as in they should be in a separate poem?

        • dusk arising

To be honest yes. I found them more powerful than the rest.
Overall this piece is quite different to your stuff which i have read before. But those two on their own quite striking.
