Easy

sylviasearcher

His face was easy
Like the flowing of water to the ocean
It was easy
Like birdsong in the morning

It was easy to notice
Not easy to ignore

I wondered what of it
As I took the time to see out from the leafy shadows

First I noticed the light
Cast across the right
Tired eye in my sight
Young face
Like a puzzle

Then I was drawn to the shadow on the left
I saw his easy eye
Awake, with lines of experience
The opposite of leery,
Lingering in shadow

Easy lips oblige a smile on the light side
Mouthing nothing.
In the shadows on the left
Genuine lips warm the absence of light
Smile reaches with feeling

Easy.

I scrutinise the detail of the puzzle laid before me
Comfortable in light
But in shadow comes to life

His face was easy
Easy to notice
Not easy to ignore
His soul was deep

I thought if I looked long enough
I might scratch the surface
Run my lips across the shadows

Easy?
