In the hood they say: “smile now, cry never
Show no remorse, only anger”
They say: “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil
Stay strapped cause these streets are lethal”
“Always keep one loaded in the chamber”
They rape you of your innocence and give birth to a new behavior
Few get away, turning to a savior
But those that remain never see anything greater

This is a small poem about my own testimony of what it’s like growing up in an inner-city neighborhood, where you hear multiple people telling you on how to act. Constant, you are being fed these ideas through a code knows as the G code. Feel free to give me any feedback or questions. I love to engange with fellow poets.
Great in your face street writing. But i think youre writing away from the street now.
Did u find a savior?

Thank you, and yes. I am not personally involved in any street activity anymore. I’m lucky that I changed my life very early on. I am 17 so I still have plenty of time to enjoy and experience new things.
I feel this man
I know this well, nice write
