Alongside the splashing rain drops, crying upon the land
Falls a simple seed, drowning by their hand
From creation, locked in a struggle to do more than just survive
Within my heart, big dreams began to bloom and hope began to thrive
And once the tears were washed away, left buried in the ground
Days pass as time stands still, silence being my only sound
Bursting free from the battered shell, tiny sprout climbing past the soil
Poking through the grass, facing a new age of turmoil
For a moment, a light breaks through the waves of green
Only for an instant, shining down upon me, I see what can never be unseen
With the darkness’s return, I watch it vanish, yet it is far from forgotten
A heart exposed to a bright future, a truth waiting to be begotten
Spreading roots within the realm below, trying to find the answers deep within
Growing stalks to explore the heavens beyond reach, leaves keeping it hidden
Stamping out any consuming flames, lifting my head above the rising seas
A memory fueling me past any limits, a desire far stronger than these trees
Blocking the path to tomorrow, covered in endless layers of green and brown
Another solemn night arrives, where even the stars refuse to come around
Years of struggle morph to decades of sacrifice to reach that long-held dream
Turning fuzzy grey around the edges, a fading memory of that brilliant gleam
Until finally a green-thumbed fist hammers through the great green wall
With a flame burning away the ghost of yesterday, revealing the light that had me enthralled
A fiery golden sun bursting with orange at its seams infused life within my sullen green
After all these years of struggle
Decades of sacrifice
Reliving the moment
I saw what could never be unseen
