ashlynadkins

here I lie

lying next to you

you’re so much more

you’ll never know how I adore

you

the beauty of your being

the beholder only seeing

those faint freckles

the radiance of your skin

it’s strong softness

overtakes my eyes

capturing the landscape

painted in yours

the blue green seas

speckled with the beige of deserts

encased in rings such as Saturn

unworldly, universally admired

rings of indigo

rounding up my thoughts

tying up my tongue

and knotting up my stomach

those lips

the texture so smooth

so much mystery remains

the desire echoes

each kiss different than the last

the definite punctuality of them

so much is unknown

the pinkness parallel

to that of a southern sunset

the olive tone of your skin

the flush of your cheeks

wrapped gracefully over

cheekbones that never go unnoticed

euphoria divine, a high

that is ever present yet -

 no test could detect

so beautiful and pure

yet dangerously safe

my oxymoron, my impractical dream

my innocence, my happiness

you

the scar on your forehead

you’ve had for years

i adore the most

the idea that you -

a godlike creation -

living perfection -

unbelievably true,

a worldly being so undeserving

of the chaotic cruelty of this world

could have these faults too

i never would have assumed

that you could be as fragile as I

with the strength of your voice

bravery resonates from your actions

each mark is a story

and I am made of listening material

soaking up each detail

absorbing so eagerly

bound to learn every inch of you

each tale more interesting than the last

a never ending story

of my favorite dreams

you

flawed masterpiece with no imperfection

nothing more would I ask

as long as you grace me with your palpable presence.
