\"Try to calm the mind
Anxiety has risen
You can feel it pierce your heart
Panicked with indecision
Try to move out from the center\"

I hate that I can say you nailed it.

L. B. Mek said:

\'I’ve once dwelled in the dark of times
I’ve once been fooled by tricks of mind
Losing sight of life itself
Seeing no vital signs
And though it burdened great decline
And once held me to feel confined
It had no strength against the one
Who I was in truth, realized\'..
once of the most empowering, stand alone stanza\'s
I have ever had the good fortune, to read
simply Brilliant, dear Poet
thanks for sharing

\'An introspective piece
of self-love and self-worth
with plenty of confidence, bravado and primal swag!\'
good for you, dear Poet
love the self-belief you conveyed
and how you weaved it in
with that stark portrait of a menacing lion,
a wonderful example
of the many and varied, uses of poetry
as a tool for healing and reaffirming
our sense of self
keep those mighty qwerty keys, singing! lol
thank you for choosing to share

For us to discard
Forming our factions

A bitter pill to swallow in the throes of heartbreak and betrayal...

Really though, you should keep up posting more poetry like this. I like this hopeful side of your work

\'To live your life within a veil
Blinded from the sea
Of the life that flows around you
Dwelling in shadows of debris\'..
Brilliant!
never doubt your talent, dear Poet
just that, someone possessing your poetic genius
tends to blind us mere mortals
and in that blink, we sadly - miss our opportunity
to glean clarity, from the wisdom
you choose to share with a world, that much prefers
the safety cocoon of mediocrity...
(its not you, who needs recognition
rather, its us - who fail to recognise
your undoubted poetic brilliance!
keep believing, keep striving - for yourself
f\'ck the selfish world, who\'ll never care
in the words of Emily Dickinson:
\'This is my letter to the World
That never wrote to Me\')

beneath all the bravado
and dramatic distractions
your message is expressed with sincere clarity
\'sometimes we all feel like
we\'re under attack
and our every step of life, is filled
with pitfalls and abundant dangers\'...
still, if we\'re of sound mind enough
to keep on surviving, living
we might as well start, with owning our truth
and eventually, grow-out of that need
to posture and act like the dramatic clown
we think the world will react to
just so that we can get noticed;
(ill-gotten self-validation
is an open invitation
to that self-sabotaging cycle of existence
tip-toeing that abyss
of all-things, inevitably sans...)
forgive me, but I chose to ignore
your authors comment
and just read the poetry you penned
which I found to be
a great example (by design or accident)
of how difficult: \'some of us\'
still, in 2021
find it difficult to express our wounds and suffering
without trying to frame it all
in some macho posturing, depiction
of our Hollywood \'conceptualisation\' of masculinity...
an intriguing read! thanks for sharing dear poet

A measured poetic write as is your norm – thanks HoB.

We are in self fulfilling prophesy, slippery slope, spiral of violence territory here…
Trouble is, I’m not sure there are any solutions other that provide social conditions within a State which will minimize conflict.

And internationally???

\'So I speak of a great love
That they may find a strength
To rise above the heartbreak
And not fall, sinking into hate
For although there’s pain and sorrow
The sun will rise each day
And the light that casts the shadows
Is a light that they’ll portray\'..
simply Beautiful: a most wholesome prayer, in a stanza!

\"But living self-condemned
Is the antithesis of envy
Who taught us that such a life
Was anything but deadly\"

This poem. Wow. All I can say is;

To dance with death is madness
Just to feel alive
A hefty price to pay
For someone trying to survive\"

...A piece of a poem I\'m currently working on. Seemed fitting here.

I know too well the feeling of betraying who I am. You captured that sentiment beautifully here.

[ Nights Like This ]
HannahElisabeth said:

\"It’s on nights like this
When things seem the darkest
Where all the problems of your life
Are seen at their largest
And all the little things
They seem to hit the hardest
And pierce right to the heart
And cut you at its sharpest\"

You put a feeling I know all too well so beautifully into words.

[ Abortion ]
HannahElisabeth said:

I honestly love the visceral and sickening imagery, you convey the pain of deceit and hypocrisy so very well.

\"The pains and the anguish

The abuse and the bondage

The lies and deceit

All paying a homage

To a culture of rape

That violently responded

To force its way of life

And to keep you a hostage\"

Utter props to you for writing so beautifully about such sordid topics. I think the flagrant juxtaposition of the title and the messages conveyed is fitting, all things considered. Then again, I might be biased as I tend to write in a similar fashion.

L. B. Mek said:

\'What I sought to be was righteous
Yet it ended in a crisis
That is nothing more than lifeless
And I\'ve all but given up
Now I wander with these morsels
Of a life that\'s damning mortals
How I long to know the morals
Instead I\'m choking on the cup

For the drink I drank was soured
And it churns and burns with power
And the hand has struck the hour
Of the time I had to spare
Yet as I lift my hands they tremble
And they no longer resemble
The once valiant, mighty rebel
That had longed to beat despair\'..
when you strip away
those aesthetic fantasy covers
this is a bravely vulnerable and honest, poetic voice
you\'re choosing to share with us, dear Poet
thank you!
(maybe someday, even those
fantastical, Goth - \'keep away\', antics
won\'t be needed...
Baby-steps, we\'re traversing
those same - baby steps
for we\'ve all ben burnt and scarred
deep enough, more than enough
to have learnt, never to leap-in
Trust: first...!)

Disciplined powerful poetry.
True too: The whole disgusting reverence, the call to patriotism, ‘Our glorious dead’ themes all laid bare. Socialisation with a strong element of coercion. And not just upon the individual, but upon the whole populace.
Again I must stop otherwise I shall rant…
