I found this very sobering. A posted letter certainly can be cherished in twenty years. How today\'s communications are nothing short of trivial. Well done for highlighting this loss in our lives.

THE SEVENTH FLOOR
L. B. Mek said:

its a devastating condition,
to have someone look, act, speak
the same, but yet
have them see you as a complete stranger every time, must be so draining
but I think, the more that eloquent writers like you, can share their experience, in a not so dramatic tone, the more we\'ll all be better prepared if we ever encounter it, in our lives
since I\'m sure the shock factor plays a major role..
a sobering read, with immense importance,
thank you, for choosing to share

How tragic to lose any loved one to such an empty existence and you describe so well the horror of knowing a dear Mother can remember her precious son for but a few moments - - heartfelt thanks Peter for sharing your own sad experience of this feared condition as increasing families have to cope with a poor victim of Alzheimer\'s disease.

Thanks for that, Peter โ€“ itโ€™s the kind of poetry I can relate to with ease.

Difficult to know exactly how end stage dementia is experienced by the subject. On the way there, obviously there is awareness of their condition as slow decline occurs and should I find myself in that situation I feel from here Iโ€™d like to check out before the final.
However, an uncertain speculation.

What is certain is that there is much suffering on the part of loved ones and close associates, witnessed here for example, by Andy/Goldfinch. My heart goes out to him and others I came in contact with during my life and fifteen years in mental health.

FIFTY YEARS FROM NOW

An imaginative write enjoyable the way SF is.
But come on - bring it back to the next three, five or ten years ....because I don\'t believe humankind will be around much to enjoy anything in fifty years....

GREAT OAK
Doggerel Dave said:

As memory of a certain time in my life, an old English oak does it for me.
A disciplined well constructed rhymer.

Welcome to MPS (trad. greeting here) I hope you will also contribute to the conversations attached to your own poems and others. Helps make MPs the lively place it already is.
