This poem has a delicious jazz-like rhythm to it, almost improvisational in how it drifts from love to longing, from mascara to moonlight, from messy tears to champagne grace. What I love most is how the speaker\'s affection isn’t hinged on perfection; even “when she\'s a hot mess,” there is reverence.
