our blue bruises, purple
with time
violet petals, darken
when plucked from their rose
comfort..
we too, seek comfort
in the pigment of our skin
flowerbeds as our hiding place
we strive to belong
hoping it doesn\'t rain and shed
these tattoos we use to cover
our skin..
