The Cruelty of Nostalgia
Soman Ragavan said:

My comments on the poem “The cruelty of nostalgia”
Our experiences are indeed amazing. An experience can last only one moment; we don’t have time to savour it or understand it completely. It is quickly gone. We are left with memories that will stick with us for a long time.
“Whispers of joy, yet grants no release....” We might recall moment of joy, but we feel no relief from the thoughts. “But as I reach, the colors fade...” We try to recapture past experiences but it is an impossible task. They are gone for ever. “yet they grasp so tight...” Memories hold us down as prisoners. Soman Ragavan.

A compelling poem of trying to cling onto good memories yet the mind not allowing them to be free of sadness and pain. It is very well composed.

A poignant poem of self harming and the desperation that drives you to it, then afterwards you feel even worse. It is a very serious subject to write about and a lot more frequent than people realise, i commend you for that. Written well and with care.

This is quite a powerful piece of poetry, you can feel the anger, sadness of the past and then the hope of the future for Mother and Daughter, really like it.
