WELCOME STACEY - A very powerful first poem full of angst and apprehension. We all have negative thoughts in our memory bank which can pop out iunto the conscious and torment us - as you say. Our minds can be renewed (cleansed) by focusing our minds on that which is pure and positive. If we have good thoughts and experiences in the forefront of our subconsciousness then the "painful and tormenting memories" will recede and (in my experience) can disappear altogether. It's like using a delete button on a computer - OK - Thanks for sharing - BRIAN
