Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Year of edition: 2020 Year read: 2020 Language: English Pages: 432 Price: 27 dollars Rating: 10
Very different from Veronica Roth’s other books (which is to be expected. This is her first adult novel). I loved the way she formatted the book, adding in news articles and government I formation to give the reader information without having the characters spell everything out. I also appreciated Sloan as a character and how I liked her and disliked her at different times. She is definitely not the stereotypical female lead. She has some stuff that still haunts her. Her life isn’t perfect, which I also like how the book picks up years after this big event has taken place. I found the other world intriguing, but also cumbersome at times— mostly having to do with the overuse of magic. I loved basically every aspect of this books.
