My first impression of Ralph was that he was ordinary but also odd. Piggy: Needy, winy, and dependent. Jack: uneasy and bad news. Simon: Gental, kid, and mysterious. What is up with Ralph balancing on his head to show how he feels?! It’s weird. Piggy is annoying and a total kiss up. I enjoyed the conflict between Ralph and Jack, even though I knew it was going to happen the first time they interacted. Poor Simon, he was the only sensible and sane kid. This book really shows how having no rules and adults will change children. It’s dark, grim, and on the verge of insanity. I loved it!
