And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.

Comments2Just read "Late Fragment" again after so many years. Still powerful, still hits me right where it hurts. This poem is a real heart tugger, makes u think about life.
Just stumbled across this poignant piece by Raymond Clevie Carver again. I remember reading it many years ago, and even now his words resonate. The lines, "To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth"-- so simply stated and yet so profound. It's as if he's distilled the essence of human longing into these few, beautiful words. His work never fails to evoke deep introspection. Remarkably touching.
